As every professional in occupational health and safety does, I am committed to protecting and promoting the safety and health of people, property and the environment above any consideration of self-interest.
Among others, the role of a CRSP and a CSP is to act as a technical resource person for a company in taking their health, safety and environment system forward. The objective is to help the company comply with the required acts and regulations that apply to the health and safety of the employees and the environment at work. Our job is also to help the management understand their legal responsibilities and the concept of 'due diligence" in taking every precaution reasonable for the protection of the employees and the environment.
Although, I mostly use the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations applicable to Ontario workplaces and the codes and bylaws at the municipal level, I have an overall understanding about the regulatory laws for the federal and other provincial jurisdictions.
I have a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh and a Master of Science (MSc) in Conservation Biology (equivalent to environmental science) from the United Kingdom. I have taken various courses on occupational health and safety in Canada and the United States.
As part of my personal continuous improvement initiative, I have been undertaking a Certificate Program in Occupational Health and Safety at Ryerson University in Toronto.
I am a Bangladeshi national. I came to Canada in 2003 as a landed immigrant and subsequently became a citizen of this country.
I am fond of computer programming, network administration, website development and conducting researches on the Internet on a variety of topics including environment, occupational health and safety, food defense, quality and management systems.
